Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada Capital Trust Fund
What is the "Capital Trust Fund"?
The Fund was established by the Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada under the authority of the "Letters Patent" under which the Foundation is incorporated. The capital in the fund can not be disbursed for any purpose.
The Fund is held in investments which offer the highest interest compatible with the maximum security.
The interest produced by the Fund is used to support the work of the humane movement of Canada, including national, provincial, regional and local Humane Societies, SPCAs and other groups with similar objects.
The Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada does not employ professional staff nor do we operate any animal care facilities. The Officers and Trustees all serve completely without remuneration. There are, therefore, no administrative costs associated with managing the fund.
Why is a "Capital Trust Fund" Necessary?
* Because of the desire of many humanitarians to make a donation, or leave a legacy, which will help animal in perpetuity.
* And because these donors wish that their legacy not be used for day to day expenses.
* And because, given the economic realities of today, it can be guaranteed that the cost of protecting animals against cruelty, abuse and neglect will continue to rise. If we do not plan wisely for the future, animals will inevitably suffer.
