The Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada funds a wide variety of animal welfare programs and projects.  These have included:  major animal welfare research projects at Canadian universities;  development of farm animal welfare standards; a tool kit for transition houses providing support to women leaving abusive relationships with concern for their pets; student traveling scholarships; and education kits on wildlife in captivity.  The AWFC also financially supports the student animal welfare clubs at the five veterinary colleges in Canada as well as annual lectures at the University of British Columbia and the University of Guelph.
